Summary: On June 6, 2024, French citizen Laurent Vinatier was detained on charges of “failure to provide documents for inclusion in the register of foreign agents,” the Investigative Committee reported.

Details: Laurent Vinatier is a PhD, an expert on the Chechen conflict, Russia and Central Asia, reports “Agency”.
The suspect, as stated by the Investigative Committee, was taken to the Moscow department of the Investigative Committee for investigative actions. “He will be charged in the near future and a preventive measure will be chosen,” the department said in a press release, reports Meduza.

On July 3, 2024 French citizen Laurent Vinatier (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) pleaded guilty in a criminal case on illegal collection of information on Russia’s military activities. TASS was told about this by the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee.
