About us
Who We Are
T-invariant is a media platform for the academic community. It was created by scientists and science journalists who left Russia. We live and work in different countries across various continents.
Who We Work For
In Russia today, free discussions about important issues are impossible. The media can no longer freely describe and analyze the ongoing catastrophe or call things by their proper names. Honest reflection is suppressed by law and self-censorship. For those who refuse to accept this, there is T-invariant.
Why We Chose This Name
T represents the time variable. An invariant is something that remains unchanged despite circumstances, maintaining its essence even when perspectives shift. Almost every scientific field has its own invariants: the speed of light in physics, the elemental composition in chemistry, and the genetic code in biology—universal to all living organisms. The invariants of a developing civilization are rationality, creative and critical thinking, and the pursuit of understanding the world. These invariants are most concentrated in science.
Our Mission
T-invariant is a media platform that constantly reminds the world of these timeless civilizational invariants while bringing together people who share these values. Today, our perception of the world is disfigured by war. Many societies are deeply divided, threatening the very invariants that sustain civilization. The battle between the archaic past and the future is taking place everywhere—not just where bombs explode and people die. We want to amplify the voices of scientists who defend their constants and build the future. As stated in the open letter from Nobel laureates, which was signed by many scientists, we stand together for peace, progress, and human rights.
What We Write About
How science fulfills its mission under government pressure.
How authorities and security services persecute scientists.
How scientists assess the most significant events in the world.
How the lives of university staff and students change during wartime.
How sanctions affect science and education.
Historical and biographical essays about scientists of various nationalities—many of whom left the Russian Empire and later made outstanding contributions to humanity.
