Summary: On September 7, 2024, the Chertanovsky Court of Moscow remanded a Bauman Moscow State Technical University lecturer and member of one of the precinct election commissions into custody in a case of inciting hatred. This was reported on the court website, TASS reports. “The investigation’s petition to elect A.N. Nesterenko, a suspect under Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of the dignity of a person or group of persons on the basis of gender, race, nationality, language using the Internet) the preventive measure in the form of detention was satisfied,” the institution’s website says, reports TASS.
Details: The reason for the criminal prosecution of Nesterenko were five Ukrainian songs that he posted on VKontakte. According to the Investigative Committee, they contain signs of incitement to commit violent acts against Russians as a group of persons.
The MSTU website says that Nesterenko is an associate professor of the university’s philosophy department and a candidate of philosophical sciences. He is the author of several books about Alexander Nevsky, and also a member of the precinct commission No. 1423 of the Lyublino district from the Yabloko party.
October 31, 2024 Moscow’s Chertanovsky Court left Alexander Nesterenko in pretrial detention for another month, RTVI reports.
