Summary: On May 23, 2025, the Russian Ministry of Justice expanded the list of foreign agents to include former INION director and RAS academician Yuri Pivovarov, Forbes reports. According to the Ministry of Justice, Yuri Pivovarov disseminated false information about the policies of the Russian authorities, spoke out against the military special operation in Ukraine, and took part in the creation of messages and materials of foreign agents and organizations deemed undesirable in Russia.

Details: Yuri Pivovarov became the first academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences to be included in the list of foreign agents. Yuri Pivovarov is currently abroad.

Yuri Pivovarov is a political scientist and historian. Candidate of Historical Sciences, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2006); professor at Moscow State University, MGIMO and Russian State University for the Humanities.
