“Patriotic Notes from the Underground ” is a project about scientists who want to be heard but not discovered. You can hear their voices in the podcast “Invasion: Science in a Time of War”. T-invariant editors verify all informants and are responsible for published testimonies. The Notes present a horizontal cross-section of Russia’s scientific and educational community in a situation of war and repression. They include the voices of capitals and regions, naturalists, mathematicians, social scientists and humanitarians, men and women, people of different ages and academic statuses. Listening to them, you can compare the testimonies of our informants with what you yourself know and think about the fate of Russian science.
Inepisode 16 of the podcast “Invasion: Science in a Time of War,” two scientists anonymously talk about how quickly one can become a “traitor to the motherland” for university administrators, how school principals struggle between the political hammer and the educational anvil, and how difficult it is to maintain relationships with colleagues who have left Russia. And also about how there is a return to ideological models like the Soviet-era CPSU history departments, how people who sat on the sofa in front of the TV and shared Ukraine suddenly got at the helm of education. And how former students, and now bosses, during a working meeting ask teachers not to write anything on social networks, even in closed groups.
