Details: The British Council, an educational and cultural organization in the United Kingdom, has been deemed undesirable for promoting “British interests and values,” reports the BBC. The British Council ceased operations in Russia over eight years ago. The British Council is one of the organizers of the international English language testing system IELTS (International English Language Testing System). This exam has been suspended in Russia since 2022. There are currently no centers in the country where it can be taken, but it is available in countries such as Belarus. Now, paying for the exam and distributing materials to prepare for it can be prosecuted, including criminal penalties.
