Summary: On November 1, 2024, the former head of the Department of Personnel Management at the Ural State Mining University (USMU) was detained in Yekaterinburg for distributing fakes about the Russian Armed Forces during lectures, a source in law enforcement agencies told RIA Novosti.

Details: On November 2, 2024 a trial was held on the measure of restraint. Sergei Abramov, an associate professor at the Ural State Mining University (USMU), accused of spreading “fakes” about the Russian army, pleaded guilty during a closed court hearing, the Ura.ru agency writes. He was charged with distributing military “fakes” using his official position (clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), RTVI reports. Judge Vladimir Ushakov granted the investigators’ motion to impose a preventive measure on Abramov in the form of a ban on certain actions.

Sergei Abramov is a candidate of pedagogical sciences. At the time of his arrest, he worked as a senior lecturer at USMU.
