March 1, 2024 The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) excluded philosopher Yulia Sineokaia from the list of those awarded a commemorative medal in honor of the 300th anniversary of the RAS, State Duma deputy Roman Teryushkov (United Russia faction) reported , citing the academy’s response to his request. Teryushkov published the official response to his request from RAS President Gennady Krasikov. Yulia Sineokaia is the only member of the RAS to be deprived of a commemorative medal. (The date of March 1 is indicated on the scan of Krasikov’s order provided by Teryushkov).
Details: Yulia Sineokaia told RBC that she learned about her medal being stripped from Teryushkov’s message on Telegram: “I was the first member of the RAS to be included in the register of foreign agents. As for my attitude to the Russian Academy of Sciences, I have great respect for the Russian academic community, there are many worthy, highly professional people in it.” Yulia Sineokaia is a philosopher, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, co-founder of the Independent Institute of Philosophy (IPHI), an organization founded in Paris by philosophers who left Russia in recent years. Before leaving, she was deputy director of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
