Details:According to investigators, the defendant made two transfers of 500 rubles each to a foreign account of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) after it was designated an extremist organization. Kazakov was placed on bail. The Dubna Court’s ruling states that when sentencing, the court took into account mitigating circumstances, specifically the defendant’s advanced age and health issues, as well as his “charitable activities” and “awards and orders for services to the Fatherland.”

Dmitry Kazakov is a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Director of the N.N. Bogolyubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna. In 2022, he received the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland”, 2nd class, for his contribution to the development of science and many years of conscientious work.
